In 2017, the Town of Apex was awarded a grant from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Division of Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation (DBPT), to develop a comprehensive bicycle plan. The purpose of this plan is to identify opportunities and constraints for bicycling in Apex, and to establish recommendations for improvement.
At the January 3, 2019 meeting, the Town Council voted unanimously to adopt Bike Apex: The Comprehensive Bicycle Plan. The plans and map showing bicycle network recommendations, as adopted on January 3, 2019, are available for viewing using the links below. Note – these are living documents that can be amended over time. The latest versions are available at the bottom of this page.

The bicycle network recommendations from Bike Apex are fully incorporated into the Town’s Bicycle and Pedestrian System Plan Map. This map, depicting the Town’s long range vision is a “living” document, regularly updated based on new information and development. Any updates to the map are presented during a public hearing for consideration by both the Planning Board and Town Council. To receive notice of public hearings, sign up online.
