Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB)

Purpose and Duties

The purpose of the Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) is to support and expand opportunities for biking, walking, and riding transit as a means of transportation in the Town of Apex. More specifically, the Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) has the following powers and duties:

Advise the Mayor and Town Council regarding proposed local multimodal plans, policies, priorities, capital improvements, and transit service changes.
Review regional transit plans, policies, capital improvements, and proposed service changes relevant to the Town of Apex and provide recommendations.
Gather community input regarding the experience of biking, walking, and using transit in Apex and work to address identified needs.
Raise community awareness about using multimodal transportation in Apex.

The Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) operates according to the following Rules of Procedure.

IMPORTANT: The Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) was established as a standing Advisory Board with the Town of Apex on June 24, 2025. Prior to this date, the charge of advising on transit related matters was previously under a non-standing Transit Advisory Committee which was established in 2017 and formalized in 2019.

Meeting Details

Regular meetings of the Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) shall be held at 4:00 pm on the second Wednesday of every other month (odd months). All meetings are held at Apex Town Hall in the Council Chamber on the 2nd Floor, unless otherwise noticed.

Members

The Multimodal Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) shall consist of nine (9) voting members, including one youth representative as defined by the Resident Advisory Board Administrative Policy. All members shall be recommended by the Mayor and appointed by the Town Council. Members shall be appointed for two-year (2) terms, except the voting youth representative which shall have a term of one-year.
