Floodplain Design
Section 6.2 of the Apex Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) discusses Town floodplain regulations. A flood study is needed for any development greater than 5 acres of if it has more than 50 proposed lots. No new residential lots are allowed within the floodplain. A floodplain development permit is required for any manmade change to improved or unimproved real estate including, but not limited to, buildings, dredging, grading, paving, excavation, drilling, or storage of equipment or materials.

The North Carolina Flood Risk Information System (FRIS) contains flood hazard data and is maintained by the State of North Carolina as a public service to citizens. The site provides floodplain mapping with an address lookup feature.
