North Carolina’s Dam Safety team does an annual inspection on all dams. Seagroves Dam is considered high hazard due to houses and other infrastructure downstream of the dam. To satisfy the requirements of Dam Safety, trees will need to be removed from the toe of slope on the dam.
Another goal of the project is to remove muskrats that have been burrowing into the dam, and to armor that section of the dam to prevent them from returning.
Status (Updated December 1, 2025): Drone flying for preliminary survey completed in early November.
