Youth Flag Football

The Town of Apex has flag football leagues for children ages 7-12 during the Summer. The program aims to develop the players’ skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Practices and and games are held at Apex Middle School and Pleasant Park.

League Information

The following flag football league age groups are available:

  • 7-8 Pee Wee (coed)
  • 9-10 Mites (coed)
  • 11-12 Major (coed)

A participant’s age is based on their age as of the cut-off date for the season. The Summer season cut-off date is July 1 of that year.

Cost

The fees for flag football are $65 for residents and $80 for non-residents. Not sure if you're an Apex resident? Use this map to check your address.

Rules

Summer 2026 Season Registration Details

Resident Registration: Begins Monday, March 30, 2026 | 9 am
Non-Resident Registration: Begins Monday, April 13, 2026 | 9 am

Registration will be available online and in person at John M. Brown Community Center (53 Hunter Street) and Pleasant Park (3400 Pleasant Plains Road). Practice begins the week of June 15th, and games begin the week of July 6th. Teams will meet two to three times a week on weeknights (a few Saturdays in June for practice), and the season will end in early August (weather depending).

Coaching 

Interested in coaching? Volunteers are always needed. Fill out a coach interest form here!

Knowledgeable volunteer coaches are the backbone and face of our youth athletic programs. They teach skills, provide leadership, and lead practices and games throughout the season. League schedules vary, but most leagues have one practice each week and a game on the weekend. All of our coaches are trained and certified through the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA). All volunteers are required to complete a background check before participating in any practices or games. The Town of Apex follows guidelines suggested by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) for denying applications to serve as a volunteer coach.
