The Town of Apex and community partners are planning exciting events to commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in January 2024!
These events are being planned for the enjoyment and participation of all those in our community. One event specifically aims to encourage elementary, middle, and high school students to contemplate this year’s theme and form a creative writing expression. This year's theme is:
A Legacy of Resilience
How to Submit your Expression:
- Expressions include a maximum of one piece of writing along with a recorded video of the student performing the written expression.
- Submissions may include a speech, song, spoken word, or poem.
- Contest entries must come from students attending Wake County Public Schools Elementary (grades 3-5), Middle, and High within the Apex corporate limits.
- Video submissions should be a minimum of 2 minutes but not exceed 4 minutes.
- All submitted expressions must be original and will be judged on creativity, content, grammar, organization of work, and capturing the theme "A Legacy of Resilience"
Submissions are due by midnight (12:00 am) on Saturday, December 18, 2023, and must be submitted to the judges at townofapexmlk@gmail.com. Students must submit BOTH the written expression and video to the committee. Please include your name, school name, and grade level in your emailed submission.
