Cats, a nuclear power plant, and lunch-oh my! Our first stop will be at the Harris Energy and Environmental Center. We will explore the Nuclear Power Plant that is in our back yard through creative and fun exhibits about electricity. Next stop will be at Southern Seasons where we will enjoy a fabulous lunch at the Weathervane Restaurant and have a little time for shopping. Then we will hop over to the Conservators Center where we will be introduced to over twenty rare, threatened, and endangered species – including lions, tigers, leopards, wolves, servals, singing dogs, and binturongs. Be prepared for an up-close and personal wildlife encounter!
 
Please note: This trip will include some stairs, and a moderate amount of walking.  The path at the Conservators Center is 3/4 mile in total and is  a nice easy walk. However it is  gravel and they do not allow any  scooters or wheelchairs on the tour path.  Please notify staff if  alternative transportation on the path is
required.

Meal options: Weathervane BLT (Fried green tomato) or Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich or Pimento cheese and ham quiche or Roasted N.C Chicken Cobb Salad (Choice not needed now)

Ready for the unknown? Mystery Trips are a lot of fun for those who enjoy a surprise. You’ll board our bus and off you’ll go for a day of adventure.  No details will be given ahead of time. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring something in case air conditioning is involved!
  
This trip will include some stairs and a moderate amount of walking. Please notify staff ahead of time if you need alternative transportation for walking tour.

Basic Trip Information

 
Departure Site:
All trips depart from the Apex Parks, Recreation, and Cultural
Resources Department, 53 Hunter St. Apex, NC.

Transportation: All trips take place on a chartered motor coach. 
Payments: All trips require full payment at the time of reservation. Some trips ask that you bring cash for lunch.
Senior Trip Refund Policy
1. If a refund is requested, in writing prior, to the registration deadline, a full refund minus a $5.00 processing fee will be issued.
2. If a participant requests a refund in writing after the registration deadline, and 48 hours prior to trip departure, a 75% refund will be issued if the participant can be replaced from the waiting list.  If there is not a waiting list for the program then no refund will be issued.
3. If 48 hours prior to the trip departure, a written excuse from a licensed medical doctor is provided indicating that the participant should not participate due to medical concerns or physical limitations, a partial refund will be issued after deducting expenses incurred by the Town of Apex-Apex Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department such as prepaid admission fees, tickets, deposits, and a $5.00 processing fee.
4. For situations where non-refundable deposits and admission fees must be paid in advance by the Town, no refunds will be given to participants who cancel.
