View the plans for the Beaver Creek Greenway Extension Project
This project, in addition to being a part of the 2017 Parks Bond, also is receiving over $1M in Locally Administered Project funds allocated by the Federal Highway Administration and in coordination with NCDOT. Recent NCDOT improvements to the bridge over Beaver Creek on Apex Barbecue Road included construction of a section of greenway within the right-of-way under the bridge.
Making Connections:
- 1.26 miles connecting Kelly Road Park to Apex Nature Park (includes extensive boardwalk)
- Completes 4 mile connection between Apex Nature Park and Apex Jaycee Park at NC 55 and connects 11 neighborhoods, 3 parks, 3 schools, 3 retail shopping areas / employment centers.
- The completion of the Beaver Creek Greenway from Kelly Road Park to the Apex Nature Park and eventually out to the American Tobacco Trail was recently identified by Wake County as a priority regional connection
Meeting the Needs:
- Construction and connection of greenways was the #1 Priority listed in the Resident Survey taken as part of the current Parks, Recreation, Greenways, and Open Space Master Plan Update.
