Records Office

The Apex Police Department gathers information during crime prevention, intervention and investigation. The Records Unit processes it using a computer software program called Aegis.

Records staff responsibilities include data entry of warrants and subpoenas, crime analysis report preparation, and submission of statistics to the State Bureau of Investigation and for the federal Uniform Crime Report (UCR).

Obtaining Copies of Police Reports and Accident Reports

In Person:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

By Mail or Fax:

If you are mailing a request, please include the report number, date of the incident, names of parties involved and the officer's name.

If you do not have the report number - call (919) 249-3460 and a records clerk will assist you in locating the report.

Fax requests can be faxed to (919) 387-3056 and should include the report number, date of the incident, names of parties involved and the officer's name.

The Records Unit usually receives incident and accident reports within 24-48 hours after officers file them. There is no charge for reports.
