The Communications Center, also known as the 911 Center, operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is responsible for answering all 911 and non-emergency calls for Apex. The Communications Center personnel also dispatch Police, Fire, EMS and after hours Public Works services.

There are two primary job functions within the Communications section. When a telephone call is received by the Center either via 911 or on a non-emergency line, the Telecommunicator enters the information in the CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) system. The information is then prioritized for dispatch.

The center is equipped with the latest technology in order to maintain the Town's commitment to quality service. The main components include Enhanced 911, Computer Aided Dispatch, and Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD).
