1. How do I report a power outage?

   
   If you have a power outage during normal business hours, call Public Works (919) 362-8166 between 7:30am and 4:30pm on weekdays.

   If the outage occurs after hours, over holidays, or during the weekend call the Apex Police Department (919) 362-8661 and they will dispatch on-call personnel for repairs.

2. What if I am experiencing problems with my power (flickering lights, etc.)?

   
   Check all breakers in your home or business and all outlets to make sure that they are not tripped.

   CALL THE TOWN FIRST and let us investigate the problem and we will advise you if it is a Town problem or if you will need an electrician.

3. How do I report a burned out street light?

   
    Fill out an online service request or call Public Works at (919) 362-8166.  

   Street light repairs typically takes between three to five business days.  If extensive repair work is necessary, the streetlight will be marked with yellow flagging tape that reads "Light Under Repair".

Sanitary Sewer

1. How do I report a sewer spill or backup, sewer odor, or broken sewer clean-out cap?

If the problem occurs after hours, over a holiday, or during the weekend call the Apex Police Department at (919) 362-8661 and they will dispatch on-call personnel for repairs. 1. How do I comment on the Town of Apex stormwater program?

Trash, Recycling and Yard Debris

1. What do I do if my trash or recycling is missed?

   
   Call Customer Service at (919) 362-8676 or call Waste Industries at (919) 662-7100 or you can fill out an online service request form.

   Be advised trash and recycling will be postponed due to holidays and inclement weather. We always place notices in the Apex Herald and the News and Observer as well as on our website and the after hours telephone message at Public Works regarding holiday collection.

   Holidays that will interrupt service include July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day. If your trash collection day falls on one of these holidays, trash and recycling collection will be postponed to the following day and any subsequent collection day in that same week will also be postponed by one day.

   If your trash collection day is disrupted by inclement weather, pick up will resume when weather permits.. Because of the range of severity and duration in weather disruptions, it is impossible to predict when a collection route might be eventually completed as it could occur (in the worst case) several days later. Therefore, when there is a weather disruption, we ask that customers put their carts and bins out to the curb on their regular collection day and leave them at the curb until they are collected. Trash and recycling collection crews will make every effort to resume normal collection as soon as weather permits.

   Call Customer Service at (919) 362-8676 if you are ever in doubt about your correct collection day.

2. I am a new resident to the Town of Apex – How do I get rid of my moving boxes?

   
   The Town will make a one time pick-up of boxes at no charge for new residents. You must break down all boxes; call Customer Service at (919) 362-8676 to schedule a pick-up date. The night before your scheduled date, place the broken-down boxes curbside. All packing materials should be placed in your recycling bin or cart.

3. How do I get a replacement trash cart or recycle bin?

   
   You will need to call Customer Service at (919) 362-8676 or call Waste Industries directly at (919) 662-7100 and ask for Residential Customer Service. They will repair or replace your cart and/or bin.

4. What can and cannot be thrown in my trash cart?

   
   Only household trash should be thrown in your trash cart, preferably bagged. Bagging helps keep your cart clean and reduces wind blown litter. Do not place yard waste, brush, or any construction debris in your cart. Automotive parts, tires, hazardous waste, hot ashes and corrugated cardboard are also prohibited. You should place recyclables in the labeled recycle bin for collection.

5. How do I find out about yard waste procedures?

6. What do I do with items that cannot be thrown in my trash cart?

   
   Yard waste and brush is collected curbside weekly. Construction debris and large items can be taken to a Wake County Convenience Center. Tires and hazardous waste can be taken to the South Wake multi-material drop off center located next to the Convenience Center on Old Smithfield Rd. Hazardous waste can be dropped off Monday through Saturday 7:00am - 4:00pm.

7. How do I dispose of unwanted furniture, appliance or bulk trash items?

   
   The Town of Apex will pick up bulk trash items for a fee which is added to your utility account. You can call Customer Service at (919) 362-8676 and they will discuss the charges with you and schedule the date for pick-up. Or you can take your bulk trash to a Wake County Convenience Center.

8. What do I do with corrugated cardboard?

   
   Break down into 2-ft x 3-ft sections and place in your recycling cart the day of your trash pickup. Or you can take the flattened boxes to a Wake County Convenience Center.

Water

1. How do I report a water leak, sewer spill, sewer odors, low pressure or broken sewer clean-out caps?

1. There is a traffic light that is not operating properly, who do I call?

   
   To report a traffic light that is not operating properly you will need to call the North Carolina Department of Transportation at (919) 477-2914.

2. There is a huge pothole in the road that I want to report, who do I call?

   
   There are some roads within the Town of Apex that are State-maintained roads (see list below*) and you will need to call the North Carolina Department of Transportation at (919) 733-4768 for service. Otherwise call Public Works at (919) 362-8166 and we will generate a service order to fulfill your request.

3. If I want to do some work in my yard and do not know where utility services are located, who do I call?

   
   You can call the North Carolina One-Call Center at 1-800-632-4949 or (811) and they will take all of your information which will generate locate tickets to all local utility companies. Utilities are usually located and marked with paint within 48 hours.

4. I need to pay my Apex Utility bill, who do I call?

   
   Call Customer Service at (919) 362-8676 to pay by phone or stop by Town Hall located at 73 Hunter Street to pay in person.

5. I need to get Apex Utility Services turned on/off under my name, who do I call?
