The Town of Apex (Town) Environmental Programs Division will be conducting an inventory of all municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) components including streams, inlets, underground pipes (12 inch diameter or greater), structures and drainage-ways within the Town corporate limits. The entire drainage area within the Town corporate limits, on both public and private property, will be evaluated per the NPDES Phase II permit 
requirements. During the inventory process, it may be necessary for Town staff to have access to private property in order to thoroughly identify and collect required information.
Town staff will utilize Global Positioning System (GPS) to locate curb/yard/drop inlets, underground pipes, and associated permanent structures that drain stormwater to the MS4 for the purpose of developing a Geographical Information System drainage map. It is our intention not to disturb or damage public or private property during the inventory process. In the event a stormwater feature is covered, buried, or not easily accessible, the Town will contact the property owner before proceeding to access the area or structure. During the stormwater drainage inventory process, Town staff will wear bright colored vests or outerwear to ensure proper identification and safety.
Stormwater basins to be mapped:
- Middle Creek - complete
- Beaver Creek
- Big Branch
- Williams Creek
- Swift Creek - complete
- White Oak Creek
- Crabtree Creek
Town staff is currently collecting stormwater information in the following basins:
- Middle Creek basin
- Swift Creek basin
- Beaver Creek basin
