Priorities Identified for Apex Task Force
October 12, 2011
Apex, NC – Close to twenty Apex business leaders, town officials and other stakeholders gathered yesterday to discuss the hot topic of economic development.
Apex Mayor Keith Weatherly, who chairs the committee said, “The outcome of this kick-off meeting is extremely positive. I believe we have assembled an energized group of local business professionals with a common vision to foster, maintain and strengthen a healthy business environment in Apex.”
The group received a crash course in Economic Development history and practices from Ernie Pearson, manager of law firm Sanford Holshouser’s Economic Development Committee.
At the beginning of the session, Mr. Pearson posed the key question to the assemblage of Apex business leaders, “What can this group accomplish for the benefit of the town, its residents, and business owners?”
By the end of the two hour session, two goals had been identified to work toward during their first year: Reaching out to existing industry, and identifying targeted industry for recruitment.
A first-year work plan will be defined at the next meeting, Wednesday, October 19th from noon – 2pm at Halle Cultural Arts Center.
