Apex, NC – Apex Mayor Keith Weatherly is gathering local business leaders to discuss economic development topics.

The task force will chaired by the Mayor and include the current Council liaison to the Economic Development Committee, Bill Jensen, the sitting Chamber of Commerce president, and leaders from all sizes of businesses and industries in Apex.

Periodic meetings will address goals and strategies for business retention and recruitment.

The idea for the task force emerged from a recent meeting with Mayor Weatherly, the Chamber of Commerce and Ernie Pearson, the former assistant secretary of economic development for the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

“It’s important to work with our existing businesses to foster their success here in Apex,” said Mayor Keith Weatherly.  “They will undoubtedly offer valuable input about retaining what we have and recruiting others to grow our business community.”
