Donation Provides for New Playground in Apex
May 24, 2011
Apex, NC – Children will soon have a new place to play, thanks to a donation by a local company. Motiva Enterprises, LLC will present nearly $20,000 to the Citizens for Apex Parks (CAPS) for the purchase and installation of a new playground at the existing Apex Jaycee Park located at 451 W. Williams Street. A groundbreaking has been scheduled for May 26th at 2pm.
Mayor Pro Tem Bryan Gossage oversaw the effort between Motiva, CAPS, and the Apex Parks department. “People and businesses that donate their time and resources are the cornerstone that great communities are built on,” said Gossage. “Hundreds of Apex families will benefit from Motiva's generosity.”
This brand new amenity will feature playground equipment on a rubber bonded surface, a shade structure with benches and a picnic table.
CAPS Chairperson Angela Reincke noted that “Jaycee Park has long needed a place for unstructured play. A contribution of this size in these economic times truly represents Motiva's commitment to Apex.”
In just a couple of months Motiva employees will volunteer with the Apex Parks Department to build benches and replant shade trees. The playground should be complete mid-July.
“This is an exciting addition to the park,” said Ken Watson, Motiva’s North Carolina Complex Manager. “We are happy to partner with the Citizens for Apex Parks to make the playground a reality for the Apex community and all the children who will enjoy it for years to come.”
