Apex Hosts Development Process Workshop
June 17, 2011
Apex, NC – Nine months ago, the Apex Construction Management and Planning Departments began an initiative to improve their development process. A development process workshop is next up in the project.
It began with an exhaustive survey to solicit feedback from developers, building contractors, engineers, architects, surveyors and consultants. “We knew there were things we were doing well, and that there were areas for improvement,” said Construction Management Director Kent Jackson. “Several process enhancements that were identified through the survey have already been implemented and others are in progress.”
Future improvements planned for the development process include a Development webpage where all development-related documents and links can be found in one place on the Town’s website, as well as an update of development applications and checklists.
At the workshop, staff will be available to answer questions on the innovative IDT electronic plan review system, and give an explanation of how a project is handled after it’s been submitted.
“We thought an open house-style workshop for the development community would be a great way to give folks the opportunity to meet with us in a low-key kind of environment, not tied to any specific project,” said Planning Director Dianne Khin.
All members of the development community are invited to attend the workshop on Thursday, June 30th anytime from 4-6 pm in the Apex Town Hall 3rd Floor Training Room A.
