Apex Utility Workers at the Top of Their Game
Our (hard) hats go off to Apex utility workers, Ken Weatherman and Matt Kiecker, who were peak performers at the 15th annual Lineman’s Rodeo, held last month in Boone, NC.
The rodeo, which is part of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Electric Systems (NCAMES) Annual Engineering and Operations Conference, is a chance for lineman from cities around the state to showcase their skill and courage while performing simulated rescues, installations and other tasks—all on a 40-foot utility pole.
Judges score these brave contestants on safety procedures, work practices, equipment handling and timely completion of the event.
In the Journeyman category, Ken was tops taking home 1st place. Meanwhile, Matt notched a second place finish in the Apprentice field.
Ken and Matt will go on to represent North Carolina in the APPA (American Public Power Association) Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo in Kissimmee, Florida next spring.
Way to go Ken and Matt, and all of our electric utility workers who competed! Apex is proud of your high achievement at the Lineman’s Rodeo and grateful to have you serving our community.
