The Apex Town Council consists of the Mayor and five Councilmen. Each Councilman is elected to a four-year term by the citizens of Apex. Elections are held in odd years.
The Council holds regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of every month. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm on the second floor of Apex Town Hall, 73 Hunter Street.
Council - Manager Government
The Town of Apex operates under the Council-Manager form of government, in which the citizens elect a Mayor and Councilmembers (the Council) as the Town's governing body. Council-manager government combines the strong political leadership of elected officials with the strong managerial experience of an appointed manager or administrator.
The Council represents Apex residents and works to establish policies that are responsive to residents’ needs and wishes, and that affect the overall operation of the community as a whole.
Council members and residents count on the manager and his staff to provide complete and objective information about local operations, discuss the pros and cons of alternatives, and offer an assessment of the long-term consequences of their decisions.
