Original Application For Service
Any customer requesting services must complete an application and agreement for services. The customer will: 1) show photo identification, 2) supply a Social Security number (or Federal Tax ID number in the case of a business account), and 3) sign the application.
The Town recognizes a joint application for utility service which allows credit to be established for both husband and wife if both sign the application. A separate application will be requested if more than one connection is requested.
Accounting Information Changes
Any changes of account information, mailing address, account name, etc. should be made in writing by the account-holder to prevent mistakes.
Commercial and Industrial Accounts
Accounts established for non-residential service will require a Federal Tax ID number and a signature by a representative of the corporation. For a non-incorporated business, the account will be listed in the name of a responsible person (owner, manager, etc.). That person accepts the personal responsibility for payment of the account.
Service Requests for All Utilities
Any request for utility service, or a request to add another service connection by a customer will be handled as a request for all services applicable to the location. All electric meter locations providing permanent service within the corporate limits shall be assessed a garbage fee and issued a rollout container, unless their solid waste requirements are alternatively met by Town dumpster service. Such locations will also be issued a recycling bin and charged a recycling fee. Customers in residential apartments served by dumpsters shall also receive a recycling bin and be assessed a fee. In addition, any other locations using garbage or recycling services will be assessed the appropriate fee.
Place of Application
Customers may request utility service at the Town or at other locations that may be designated by the Town Council for customer convenience.
Time of Application
The Town will strive to meet customers' needs for connection of service. Normal connection will occur one business day after the request.
Out-of-Town Connection Requests
If a customer wants to obtain service prior to arrival in the
Town, the Town may provide service and mail a written contract to
the customer. Mailed information should include acknowledgment of
the establishment of service and an application for the customer
to sign. The customer should also be notified of any required deposit
and fees and should pay those fees before service is connected.
Customers can request a verbal explanation of the Town's policies
and may obtain a written copy of the guidelines as well.
Services Requests for New Construction
The customer will need to meet the requirements explained in the line extension section of the Town's policy.
Welcome Packet
The Town will give each new customer a welcome packet which includes information about the utility and other Town services.
