06/01/09 - Please refer to table shown below as some yard waste collection routes have changed
DO NOT PLACE YARD WASTE
IN BAGS or YOUR TRASH CART!
Please rake all yard waste to the curb to be vacuumed.
Please keep large sticks and branches separate from smaller yard waste as this could damage the vacuum and delay collection.
Grass clipping and yardwaste collection will occur year-round according to the schedule below. Grass clipping collection includes grass clippings, pine straw, pine cones, weeds, garden waste, straw, leaves, and small shrubbery clippings.
Other Town of Apex Yard Waste Disposal Information:
Leaves and Grass Clippings:
Leaves and grass clippings will be collected curbside year-round by vacuum trucks. Please rake leaves and grass clippings to curb for collection, taking special care not to mix the piles with sticks, rocks or dirt. Yard waste collection will occur according to the schedule shown below. The Town will be continuously swept, but during peak collection time, collection may not occur on a weekly basis. After peak collection time, yard waste should be collected in each neighborhood on a weekly basis. DO NOT BAG ANY LEAVES OR YARD WASTE.
Limb Chipping:
Limbs are chipped curbside year-round and should be placed curbside for collection according to the schedule below. Limbs do not need to be bundled or bagged. Limbs to be chipped are to be no more than 8 feet long and a minimum of 3 feet long. Maximum diameter should be no more than 8 inches. Logs, stumps, and roots will not fit through the chipper and should be placed at the curb separate from the limbs to be chipped. These items will be collected separately.
Christmas trees are collected and chipped curbside as part of the Town of Apex’s regular chipping routes. Remove all decorations from tree, including any nails from the stand, and place at curb for pickup.
Composting:
In an effort to divert inappropriate materials from Wake County landfills, The Town of Apex is encouraging the use of compost bins to help residents dispose of yard waste. Compost bins are available at the Public Works and Utilities Center during normal business hours. Cost of the bins is $65.00. Cash or checks will be accepted for payment. Rain barrels are also offered.
Please contact the Town of Apex Public Works and Utilities Department at 362-8166 for further information or clarification regarding any yard waste question.
Beginning June 1, 2009, the Town of Apex will change the yard waste collection dates for the Salem Oaks and Haddon Place neighborhoods. If you live in one of the affected neighborhoods please refer to the list below to find out your new collection date.
Please make a note of what day your subdivision falls under with the schedule below and place debris out at curbside the night before your pick-up. Please remember to rake all yard waste to the curb to be vacuumed. DO NOT PLACE YARD WASTE IN BAGS! Please keep larger sticks and branches separate from smaller waste as these could damage the vacuum and delay collections.
