Planning Apex Comprehensive Plan

The purpose of the Apex Comprehensive Plan is to create a vision of what the Town of Apex should be in the future. The Comprehensive Plan will include sections on future land uses, economic development initiatives, housing, historic preservation, environmental issues, community development, capital improvement program, infrastructure and utilities, and hazard mitigation planning. It will be coordinated with existing plans including the Growth Management Plan, the Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Greenways Plan, and the Apex Transportation Plan. The study area encompasses the current Town limits, planning jurisdiction, and future planning areas, particularly to the south and west of the Town limits.

Public Involvement
The more voices that are heard regarding what Apex's future should be, the more representative the plan will be. There have been three public workshops held on September 4, 2003, October 14, 2003 , and January 21, 2004 where citizens were given the opportunity to discuss the issues that were most important to them. There were also two public hearings held, one before the Planning Board on April 12 and 19, 2004 and one before the Town Council on April 20, 2004.
