Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Registration Information

Advanced registration is required for most athletic and instructional programs. The first 2 weeks of each registration period is reserved for those persons residing within the town's corporate limits. After the initial resident registration period, program registration is open to anyone until the program is filled. After a program is filled, waiting lists may be established with Apex residents receiving priority.  Registration policies are approved by the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Advisory Commission and adopted by the Town Council.

Registration LineRegistration for most programs is accepted either by appearing in person, by mail, or by registering on-line via PEAKconnect (for more information, click here). To register, participants must fill out the appropriate registration form, and pay all applicable fees. In addition, some youth athletic programs require a copy of a birth certificate to verify age. All registration is governed by adopted policy. The Town reserves the right to refuse registration.

The first day of registration for both Apex residents and non residents will be held at the Apex Community Center only, (53 Hunter Street), starting at 9 a.m. Other than the first day, participants may register during regular business hours at either the Community Center or the Parks and Recreation office located at 237 North Salem Street. For more information on registration or business hours call the Community Center at 249-3402 or the Recreation Office at 249-3419.

Lottery System:

To avoid long lines and discourage overnight assembly, the first day for registration for both residents and non residents of Apex will be administered by a Lottery System. Promptly at 8:45 a.m., everyone will be given the opportunity to randomly draw a number. Patrons will line up according to their number. Everyone arriving after 8:45 a.m. will go to the back of the line. Registration will begin promptly at 9 a.m. based on this system. This is for individual program registration only and does not apply to adult team registration deadlines.

Registration fees

Participation fees vary depending on the program or activity. Fees help recover the cost of instructors, supplies/materials, part-time personnel, and maintenance. Fees are established based on the following recovery schedule: Adult Programs recover 100%. Youth Programs recover 50%. Selected Senior Citizen Programs recover 25%. Contracted Instructors set their fees based on their preferred class size.

Participants may request a reduction or waiver of their participation fees through a process recommended by the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Advisory Commission and adopted by the Town Council. For more information regarding the reduction/waiver of fee policy, contact us in advance of program registration.
