
Apex voters overwhelmingly sent a clear "YES" message on the importance they place on adequate parks and improved transportation when they turned out in record numbers yesterday to approve both bond referendums placed on the ballot for their consideration. By an approval margin of 86% to 14% Apex voters approved a 13 million dollar referendum for improved and new park projects including 1) the expansion of the Apex Community Center, 2) the renovation of the Town's original Town Hall into a Performing and Cultural Arts Center, 3) construction of the Beaver Creek Greenway, connecting downtown Apex to the American Tobacco Trail, 4) land acquisition / construction of an Athletic Complex, 5) Completion of the Beckett Crossing and Haddon Hall Public Greenway links, and 6) construction of a +100 acre Nature and Environmental Education Park.
