Park Attendant - Position responsible for ensuring the enjoyment and safety of park visitors. Duties include random patrol of Town parks, greenways & recreational properties, enforcing ordinances, providing information about parks & cultural resources to citizens through verbal interaction and interpretive materials and programs. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School diploma, GED, or be actively enrolled in high school and possess a valid NC driver’s license. Applicants must be able to safely lift 50 lbs to move objects, as well as walk and operate a bicycle on paved and unpaved surfaces for extended periods of time. Applicants must be able to effectively document work through written and electronic means. Requires ability to effectively and professionally communicate with the public and handle stressful situations. Ideal candidates will have experience in parks and recreation operations with preference given to applicants with pepper spray, CPR, first aid, and/or similar certifications. Spanish a plus. Work may involve dealing with domestic and wild animals. Attendants may be required to work night, weekend and holiday shifts and attend post hiring training outside of the normal work schedule. Limited Service Position with no benefits. Hiring Range starts at $8.00 hr. Town of Apex employment application required.
