Input for Public Art Installation Accepted Through June 22nd

Public Works Building Mural Preliminary Concept

Everyone will soon be able to enjoy the newest installation of public art located at the Apex Public Works building on Hwy 55. The Town of Apex has partnered with the United Arts Council of Wake County and local artist Max Dowdle to paint a mural on this building that will visible to all who pass through Apex on the major corridor.

Mr. Dowdle, a resident of Hillsborough, NC has created several pieces in the region and beyond, from large scale paintings for the George Washington University office foyer, to a 95 foot wide mural for City Hall in Durham, NC. View samples of his work.

This work will breathe life into an otherwise mundane public building by creating a vibrant graphic design that will highlight the people and the nature of the surrounding area. View a preliminary concept of the design.

As always, your thoughts and comments are welcome as we work to demonstrate the vibrancy of the community, stimulate creative thinking and enhance the town’s unique culture. Public input will be received by the Public Art Committee via email through June 22, 2020.
