Everyone loves to grow tomatoes! Craig LeHoullier will take the audience on a journey that starts with a bit of history, some stories and great varieties, then progress through ways to succeed in the Peak of Good Tomato Growing, Apex, North Carolina. We will talk methods and culture, troubleshooting and diseases, and leave plenty of time for questions.
Craig will have copies of his award winning books - Epic Tomatoes and Growing Vegetables in Strawbales - for purchase ($20.00 and $10.00, respectively, signed as you wish - cash, check or credit card will be fine). There will be some informational handouts and packets of seeds for all. If all goes well, there may be some seedlings available to purchase as well.
About the speaker: Through the years, Craig LeHoullier has been known as NC Tomatoman. Some know me as the fellow who named Cherokee Purple in 1990. To others, he is co-host of Tomatopalooza, a co-leader of the Dwarf Tomato Breeding Project, or just the odd person with a garden where the driveway used to be. Craig is a tomato nut with a website https://www.craiglehoullier.com/, a blog, a newsletter (on occasion), and a huge tomato and pepper and eggplant collection. Craig is a national treasure who just happens to root in our own backyard in Raleigh.
