Celebrate with us this July!


Every July we celebrate National Park and Recreation Month here in Apex! For 2023, the theme is "Where Community Grows", which celebrates the vital role park and recreation professionals play in bringing people together, providing essential services and fostering the growth of our communities. Learn more about all the ways you can celebrate this July with us below.

Fourth of July Celebrations ~  July 3 - 4, 2023

This year's celebrations include two days of events! Join us on July 3 from 5 pm - 10 pm for the Fireworks Frenzy event, and on July 4 from 9 am - 1 pm for our Olde Fashioned Fourth of July event. The Fireworks display and event features music, food trucks, and bounce houses. The long-standing traditional Olde Fashioned event features games for all ages, inflatables, the Parade of Wheels, and ends with a splash down from the Apex Fire Department!. Summer Slam! ~  July 12, 2023

Join us at Salem Pond Park on Wednesday, July 12 from 6pm-7:30pm! Come out for an evening of larger than life games including Knockerball, giveaways and fun for the whole family. The Kona Ice truck will also be onsite with refreshments for purchase. Let us know you are coming here!


Chalk the Walk ~  July 13, 2023

Embrace your inner chalk artist! Join us at Hunter Street Park on Thursday, July 13 from 6pm-7:30pm! We are hosting a "Chalk the Walk" event where you can design and draw your own work of art in the park. We will mark off sections of the path around Hunter Street Park for all ages to decorate with chalk. Feel free to bring your own chalk, or we will have some available for you to use. A "People's Choice Award" will be up for grabs, so be sure to check out our Facebook page after the event to vote for your favorite square! The Kona Ice truck will also be onsite with refreshments for purchase.

Nature Scavenger Hunt ~  July 14, 2023

Get out in nature and explore one of the many parks or trails Apex has to offer! While this activity will be available for you to complete throughout the whole month of July, we encourage you to get outside on Friday, July 14 with family or friends to complete this activity. All participants who submit their findings will be entered for the chance to win an APRCR prize swag pack!

SUBMIT YOUR FINDINGS HERE! You can submit your scavenger hunt findings until July 31, and you can visit any Apex park or greenway to complete this scavenger hunt. 


Puzzlepalooza ~  July 14, 2023

Calling all avid puzzle lovers and families! Join us for a puzzle challenge at 6pm on Friday, July 14. Teams of two to four will compete to finish a 500-piece puzzle in the shortest amount of time. The puzzle is provided and can be taken home with you at the end of the event. The number of teams will be limited, so register early! Snacks will be provided. Register here! Please note: only person per team should register.


Peak City Circuit ~  Summer Music and Movies

Peak City Circuit runs throughout the summer, but we wanted to highlight the July concerts and movies you can attend during National Parks and Recreation Month. Learn more about the whole schedule here.
